James Groveau

James Joseph Groveau IV passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 with his family by his side. James was born in Chicago on February 6th, 1958, the son of James Joseph Groveau III and Elaine June (Gravanitis) Groveau. James attended Kelly High School in Chicago and went on to the Job Corps which he completed with high marks in Carpentry. He used this skill throughout his life. Jim retired from Oshkosh Defense due to his health on December 31, 2019. Many knew Jim by one of his many nicknames: J.G, Zorba, Pisano, Guido Groovy and Silly Man. He was always referring to friends as Homeys. He always referred to “the Hood” where he grew up. James had a passion for making people smile and laugh. He was always the life of the party with his quick wit, dance moves, facial expressions, his singing and many times outrageous outfits. Zorba means to live each day! He sure did!! He also had a great knack for raising Lori’s Blood Pressure!!! He realized one of his dreams when he purchased his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Many memorable trips were made with friends. He was an excellent creative cook. But his favorite food was a burrito and White Castles. Whoever was coming from Chicago way better not arrive without one of those food items. He even took orders from co workers if he was going to Chicago. He convinced everyone that they had to try these because they were like no other. It was not unusual for him to come back with 20 or more burritos. The grandkids will forever remember coming to dinner with Jim putting a price on each item they ate: They always said “put it on my tab”. One Holiday a great Niece came with Monopoly money to pay him. Jim always had time to play games or get into shenanigans with the grandchildren leaving them to be blamed. He loved all of them without limits. His dog Harley was his loyal companion. Harley gave Jim much comfort in these past weeks as he grew weaker. Where ever Jim went Harley was not far behind. Harley was not going to miss a ride in the truck with the sun roof open so he could stick his head out. In addition, “dad” was always sharing the “last Bite”! of food and stopping at McDonalds for Fries. Jim touched many lives in various ways. He has been described as a beautiful soul. That is a fitting description. He had a kind and compassionate spirit that will forever be missed. We could write a book about all his antics, fun times and happy memories. These memories will help ease the pain of losing him. He is survived by his wife Lori; his Children, James (Sarah), Nicole Groveau , Michele Groveau; Siblings, Therese (Marv) Cichlar, Linda (Jerry) Dalton, Jean (the late Thomas) Lehocky, Robert (Susan) Groveau, Mark (Loretta) Groveau, and Matthew Groveau. He is also survived by His stepchildren, Douglas (Irene) Hunt, Joel (Jenni) Hunt, Jennifer (Brett) Scheibel; his grandchildren, Grace & Ryan Groveau, Skyler Groveau, Alexis Brudnicki, Hannah (Kiersten) Hunt, Heather Hunt, Hayden Hunt, Joshua Scheibel, Nik Scheibel, Tate Scheibel, Madeline Milam; his loyal dog Harley and special friend “Chick” Johnny. Jim is also survived by many caring nieces, nephews, and many friends He was preceded in death by his father, James Groveau; mother, Elaine Groveau; and sister, Lori Ellis. The family wishes to thank Dr. Gufran, Liver Specialist, Hepatology Clinic at Froedtert Hospital; Ana Vidic, Physician’s Assistant at Froedtert Hospital; Amy Schroeder APNP; Dr. Budde and Dr. Batley as well as the nursing staff at Theda Care Eastridge Clinic. Dr. Amy Schroeder has been Jim’s primary physician for many years treating him professionally with compassion and respect. The family also wants to thank Theda Care Home Care, Barb; Theda Care Hospice, Jolene, Angie Brittany, Karen and Kristina. They were so caring and so helpful in the last days of Jim’s Life. There will be a Visitation on August 7, 2021 at Wiecki Skipchak Funeral Home Berlin, WI From 11-1:00 p.m., a memorial service will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are then invited to a lunch and a time to share memories at City Inn following services at the funeral home.
