Mr. Orville Kittel

Kittel, Orville J. Orville John Kittel, age 89, of Green Lake, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 4, 2016 at the Markesan Resident Home, where he had been residing at for the past two weeks. He was born on August 7, 1927 in Wausau, Wisconsin the son of Ervin and Rose (Furger) Kittel. He married the love of his life Ana (Abaunza) in Puerto Rico on November 26, 1970. He earned an associate degree in College. ORV’s career spanned many different fields over the course of his lifetime, such as a Machinist Instructor, Commercial Pilot and flight Instructor, Parachute Instructor and loved the shoe business working for Weinbrenner Shoe Co. of Merrill, the Weinberg-Nun Bush – Stacy Adams Shoes of Milwaukee, owner and operator along with his wife of the Blue Jay Bowling Lanes in Milwaukee, Minnetonka Moccasin Co. of Puerto Rico, and the Lake States Footwear Co. in Berlin. His involvement in service to the communities of Green Lake, Berlin, Princeton and Green Lake County, was endless. Orville was a member of the Green Lake County Deputy Sheriffs Association, was an active was head of security for the Princeton Flea Market, past Green Lake County Deputy Coroner and a dedicated past member of the Berlin Lions Club, where he had served as past president, secretary and treasurer and tirelessly worked on the club fundraisers as the Rose Sales, Christmas Cheese Sale, and the summer steak fry’s, he was also the District Governor of Lions Clubs, a dedicated transporter of donated eyes to the eye bank, an active member of the Princeton Lions Club, and was awarded just about every award and pin offered for his service and dedication to the Lions. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of Green Lake. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, coin collecting, watching western movies, but most of all the love for his wife and family and of always there to help others. He served his country in the United States Marines and was a Paratrooper in World War II. , Survivors include his beloved wife, Ana, daughters, Christine (Thoren) Fontaine of Naples, Florida, Carmen (Randy) Svendsen of Wausau and Sandra Rodriguez of San Juan, Puerto Rico also one grandson, Patrick Smith of Oshkosh and one great granddaughter, Chloe, also other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Phyllis Hackl. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held on Saturday October 8, 2016 at the Wiecki-Skipchak Berlin Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father David Greenfield officiating and a lunch will follow in the Funeral Home Handicap accessible Family Center and burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery of Milwaukee on Monday.
