Lucille A. Hopp

Lucille Angeline Hopp, age 95 of Seneca, passed away on Saturday morning December 30, 2017 at Patriot Place of Berlin. She was born on November 23, 1922 in St. Marie, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Krafjack) Kozlowski. On October 16, 1948, Lucille married Robert Hopp and shared 45 wonderful years together. Lucille lived at home until she was 93 and then moved into Patriot Place where she has since resided the past 2 years. She was called by the staff, “Sweet Little Lucy” and her loving reply was, “Hey Lady”. Lucille’s mind was very sharp until the end and through the years her family and friends enjoyed her “Good Old Times” stories, hearing about how many miles she had to walk to school, how they used to keep food cold, making butter, washing clothes, how to keep cool when it was so hot and many more. She also was well informed on home remedies and cures for when a person or animal got sick. She was also an excellent weather forecaster, she knew what direction the wind was from and what it meant even through fog, and when the frogs became quite loud, she could tell it was really going to rain! Lucille loved and cherished her cats and family dogs, she was a wonder in the kitchen as well. She made the best cookies and hot dishes and rarely used recipes. She was the best mom, grandma and friend, always caring and always wanting to be involved and helping out. Lucille never forgot a birthday, but loved to switch her own birthday number around making herself younger year after year. She was the first to help out and the first to clean up after a big holiday meal. Our family has learned so many precious old fashioned values from Lucille. She was truly one of a kind and one who cherished her catholic faith. Lucille loved her grandchildren and was always so proud of them. She loved to hear about Rodney’s job and his day to day activities including his dog Holly. She enjoyed the shopping and errand trips with Tammy who always made sure grandma got to her appointments on time, and always had fun picking Badger 5 lottery numbers for Tammy. She loved Patriot Place and all of the people and staff. She enjoyed getting her nails done, going to church in the chapel, visits from Father David and looked forward to the therapy dogs from Sassu Enterprises which came there once a month. Lucille is survived by her son, Clarence (Susan) Hopp; grandson, Rodney Hopp; granddaughter, Tammy (Tom) Midona; brother, Clarence Kozlowski; godchild, Jean Zabel; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Lawrence and Mary Kozlowski; a brother, Joseph; and sisters, Victoria, Irene and Jeanie. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Patriot Place, Heartland Hospice Hope, Wisconsin Care, Father David Greenfield, and Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home for the excellent care and compassion you showed Lucille and our family. We are especially grateful for the special visit from the Heartland Hospice Santa during her last days, her smile will be remembered forever.
