Kathy Young

Kathy Kay Young, 63, of Berlin, passed away peacefully and went to her eternal resting place on Saturday July 10, 2021 after a short stay at Brown Wilcox Assisted Living, where she was under the care of ThedaCare Hospice. Kathy was born on April 12, 1958, in Berlin, the daughter of Clarence H. and Alida V. (Kelm) Dibelius. She was a 1976 graduate of Berlin High School. Kathy was previously married to Steven Young, whom she married on February 5, 1977. Steven and Kathy had two sons, Jason and Adam. Her previous employment included Wal-Mart (where she was one of the first employees of the original Berlin store), Milsco Manufacturing, and The Red Barn Woodcrafts, among other places. She found her true passion when she became a receptionist at Veterinary Clinics-Berlin where she worked for the better part of the last 20 years until her retirement in 2019. Kathy was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Missouri Synod. She enjoyed being able to watch her grandchildren in their church programs. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, but especially her grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. Her time at the Vet Clinic gave way to her true passion of being with and helping animals. Kathy’s family wishes to thank the staff of Brown Wilcox and ThedaCare Hospice for the exceptional level of care they provided to her and the family. Survivors include her two sons Jason (Tracie) Young of Redgranite and Adam (Kayla) Young of Pine River; her grandchildren Aidan, Alex, Ryan, Lexie and Cameron; and her sister Diane (Greg) Brewer of Florida. Kathy is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, many dear friends, and her canine companion Ella. Kathy was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Gerald, brother Roger, sister-in-law Evelyn, and her beloved golden retriever JAK. Visitation for Kathy will be held Friday July 16, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm at Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held following visitation. Pastor Mundinger of Saint John Lutheran Church will be officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Kathy’s name to assist in emergency vet costs to continue her devotion to the care of animals.
