Gerald Sarow

Gerald (Jerry) Sarow, age 90 of Berlin, passed away on January 27, 2026. He was born in Evansville, WI at the family home in September of 1935. Jerry grew up and lived on the family farm in Evansville, WI, graduated from Milton High School and was then drafted into the US Army in March of 1958 and was deployed in Europe until his honorable discharge in March of 1960. Jerry then re-enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guards and served until March of 1964. Jerry married Marge on November 26, 1960 and enjoyed 61plus years of marriage together starting out in Whitewater, WI. A great career opportunity was presented to Jerry at the Swenson (now Milsco Corp) in Redgranite, WI to Head the Maintenance Department which he accepted, and he relocated his family to Berlin, WI in 1974 where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Jerry and Marge had 4 children, Jane, Kathy, Dawn and Danny. Marge and Jerry enjoyed camping with their family as they grew up, snowmobiling, traveling, gardening and especially watching Packer games. Jerry was a dedicated Packer fan and never missed watching a game and then playing Monday morning quarterback on what they should have done differently. Jerry was also an avid outdoorsman enjoying deer hunting and fishing, and a dedicated wood craftsman making all types of wood projects in his well-equipped shop. His specialty was bird houses and different types of bird feeders. Once he retired, he continued his love of wood working and helped out at the Red Barn Woodworks shop in Auroraville, WI. Jerry enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales and looking for great deals to bring home to “stock his inventory” for having his own garage sales. His witty salesmanship of “negotiating” with both sellers and buyers was always enjoyable to watch and listen to as he certainly enjoyed the interactions with people. Jerry was Grandpa to seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Cliff) Zahler, Jason Walton, Mark (Angie) Kreklow, Michelle (Jeff) Spangler, Lisa (Jamie) Flesch, Joshua (Kate) Besaw and Kendra (Thomas) Crowell. In addition, Jerry enjoyed 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild! Jerry was a long-time member of United Methodist Church of Berlin, WI. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Walton, Dawn (Mike) Besaw; son-in-law, Bill Kreklow; sisters, Phyllis, Pat, Carol, Karen, Kay, and many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Jerry was preceded in death by wife, Marge; son, Danny Sarow; daughter, Jane Kreklow; brother, Dave Sarow; and other family members. Family and friends may visit with the family and pay their respects to Gerald on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Wiecki -Skipchak Funeral Home of Berlin. A funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rob Schrader officiating. Full Military Honors will be performed at the funeral home following the service by the Wells-Krause VFW Post #2925. Burial will be held following the service at Oakwood Cemetery.
