Carol Joyce Hadel

Carol Joyce Hadel (nee Weeks) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 20, 2025 at the age of 81. She was born July 28, 1943 to Elizabeth “Bessie” June Weeks and Richard Ralph Weeks. Carol lived in Eureka and Berlin. She attended Berlin High School and would have graduated in 1961 but a broken leg in 1960 caused her to miss quite a bit of the school year so she graduated in 1962. She married the love of her life, George Silas Hadel on July 30, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Berlin. She first started working at Realist focusing lenses. She then spent years as a stay-at-home mom to her daughter Terri Hadel and son Jeff Hadel. She went back to work part time at Berlin Memorial Hospital working in the kitchen when both kids were in grade school and a few years later she began working full-time there until she retired at the age of 70. She also occasionally sold Avon. Carol enjoyed playing cards and games with family, rummage sales, thrifting, taking gambling trips on the bus, and playing bingo at Oneida. She is survived by her daughter Terri; and son, Jeff (daughter-in-law Shannon Drexler and granddaughter Brynn Drexler). She is also survived by her sister, Marge Boening and sisters-in-law, Ardene Moriarty, Arlene Boeck, and Betty Weeks; along with many favorite nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends who shared great times and meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Richard and Bessie Weeks; brothers, Donald, Robert “Bud” and Thomas Weeks; sister-in-law, Judy Weeks. Mother and father-in-law Alvin and Augusta Hadel; brothers-in-law, John Boeck, Gene Hadel, Edward Hadel and sister-in-law Joan Hadel. Family and friends may visit with the family and pay their respects to Carol on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4-7:00 p.m. and also on Friday May 2, 2025, from 9-11:00 a.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of Berlin. A funeral service will be held following the Friday visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Stacy Malzhan. Burial will be held following the service at the Eureka Cemetery.
