Wilfird "Bud" Polk Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Wilfird “Bud” Polk died December 20th, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and three devoted children. He was 93. Bud was born on September 7, 1928, in Big Falls, WI to Arthur and Clara Polk, and moved to Berlin with his parents and nine siblings at the age of 16 onto the farm where he lived and worked the last 77 years. In 1966 he married his loving wife, Carolyn, and they shared 55 wonderful years together raising their three children and enjoying their seven grandchildren. He was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was a hard-working farmer for over 55 years and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Anyone that had the chance to fish with him, knows he was a very patient person. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness and most of all his love of his family and his strong faith. Bud was most happy when spending time with family. He and Carolyn loved to attend sporting events and any other activities their kids or grandkids participated in. Even after retiring he rarely sat still. He loved to be outside driving around on his four-wheeler (or giving rides), working in his garden and with his amazing raspberries, planting trees, feeding the birds or working in his wood shop. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Jim Polk and his wife Stacey of Berlin, Becky Polk-Pohlman and her husband Jim of Appleton, and Pam Amann and her husband Greg of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren Breanna and Brady Polk, Callie and Avery Pohlman, and Elliott, Abby and Isaac Amann; brother, Art (Barb) Polk; sisters, Ellen Czech and Faith (Don) Gatzke; brothers-in-law, David (Patty) Marquardt and Larry Marquardt; sister-in-law, Elaine Marquardt and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his two infant children Daniel and Deborah; parents Arthur and Clara Polk; father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Hulda Marquardt; brothers Walter Polk and Bob (Carol) Polk; sisters Lil (Norman) Kretzmann, Doris (Harold) Jesse, Carolyn (Bernie) Rodensal, and Elaine (Martin) Mueller and brothers-in-law Dick Czeck and Marvin Marquardt; nieces Cindy Marquardt and Barbara Bates and nephew Andy Polk. The family would like to express their special thanks to: Theda Care Hospice, especially Kristina, Angie, Tara and Brittney, for their constant support and care; Dr. Blaha and staff for providing amazing care for many years; Pastor Mundinger of St John Lutheran in Berlin and Pastor Fritsch of Messiah Lutheran in Ripon for their support and comfort; Jason Buttke and the staff at Field’s Pharmacy for their excellent service; Samantha Nelson of Samantha’s Helping Hands Homecare for being there whenever needed, Mike Featherston of Red Feather for your thoughtful services, and to all of our family and many friends who provided support through visits and prayer. A funeral service is planned for Monday, December 27th at St John Lutheran Church in Berlin, WI. Visitation will be from 9-11 am with the service to follow at 11 am. The committal will immediately follow the service, with a luncheon at the church following the committal. A memorial has been established in Bud’s name.
