Stephen "Steve" Coulson

October 6, 1953 - April 7, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen “Steve” Coulson announce that he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, April 7th, 2021 at age 67. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. Steve was born in Berlin, WI on October 6, 1953, the son of Erwin & Jean Coulson. He was a graduate of Berlin High School Class of 1971. He worked several jobs while in high school and beyond including the foundry and the tannery, but he settled his career in tax accounting joining his father at Tri-County Bookkeeping and Tax Service in 1973. He married his loving wife, Jean Neubauer on September 21, 1985. Steve eventually took over the family business, now named Coulson’s Tax Service, and brought in his daughter Annamae to be the third generation of tax accountants. Anyone who knew Steve knew that there wasn’t a blade of grass growing under his feet. His favorite past times included bowling, fishing, playing softball, card games and volunteering with the Berlin Kiwanis Club. He never held anything back – everything he did, he did it to the fullest extent. He bowled in the ABC national tournaments; fished in every season (except tax season of course); played ball every night of the week; mastered just about any card game you could throw at him; and even thought of, organized, and ran what is now one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the Kiwanis Club. He was also an avid sports fan, always cheering on the Brewers, Badgers and Packers. Steve will be missed greatly by his wife, Jean; daughter, Annamae (Michael) Caswell; step-son, Matt (April Gilles) Chappa; brother, Donald Coulson; sister, Barbara Resop; 2 step-grandsons; 1 great-step-grandson; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and clients. He was proceeded in death by his infant brother Conrad, his parents, grandparents, and other relatives. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, April 16th 2021 form 4-7pm and also from 9am-10am on Saturday April 17th 2021 at the Wiecki-Skipchack Funeral Home of Berlin. Funeral service and burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Berlin Lanes. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Richard Warren and his oncology team for their exceptional support through this difficult journey; as well as to the hospice team at Heartland Hospice for helping to ensure his last days were able to be spent comfortable and at home.
