Richard Robert Sage

Richard (Rick/Dickie) Sage age 62 of Berlin passed away peacefully Thursday March 30, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was born June 3, 1954 in Berlin, WI to Robert and Mary (Mader) Sage. He attended St. Michael’s Grade School and graduated from Berlin High School in 1972. After graduation Rick worked as a printer at the family business, Berlin Printing and Office Supply. Later he moved to Florida working at a large printing company where he applied the skills he learned at the family business. He drove semi for Werner cross country for many years. He was proud that he received awards for Safety and Top Driver. Upon retirement he moved back to Berlin and worked as a delivery person for his sisters at Berlin Printing & Office Supply. Rick will always be remembered for his fast and powerful cars. He would often drive around looking for people he knew so he could squeal his tires to get their attention. Some people leave their “mark” on this earth and Rick left many. You can see them on the roads that he traveled. He loved playing cribbage and watching the Packers and Brewers. His other love and constant companion was his bird, Fred. Rick took him for rides in his car, taught him tricks and even fastened a perch on his ceiling fan in the living room. Then he would turn the fan on and watch Fred go for a spin. Rick was a great man and he will be missed by his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his brother Jim and sister-in-law Mo of South Dakota, sister Sue (Sage) Trampf and brother-in-law Dave of Berlin, brother-in-law Kurt Baxter of Oshkosh, step mother Von Sage of Berlin, step sister Judy Paul of Minneapolis, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Mary Sage, sister Kathy (Sage) Baxter, step brother Jim Paul, and his bird Fred. Visitation will be at Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home Thursday April 6th from 9-10:00 am. Mass will be at All Saints Catholic Church at 10:30am. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetary followed by a lunch at All Saints Church hall. A memorial to All Saints Catholic Church has been established. Thank you to the staff of Brown Wilcox, Agnesian Hospice, Sister Michalene and Father David Greenfield for the compassion and care given to Rick and our family.
