Sister Mary Jude Seaman

Sister Mary Jude Seaman, age 80, of Berlin, was taken into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 at Berlin Memorial Hospital. Sister Jude attended St. Michael’s Catholic School in Berlin and graduated from Good Counsel High School in Chicago, IL. She became a member of the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantilice (Felicians) in the early 50’s. She graduated from Loyola University and Northwestern University with Master’s degrees in Theology and Mathematics. Later, she continued her education and became an Associate Pastor. She served in St. Paul, Minnesota, as Principal at Good Shepherd’s in Joliet, IL and also at Sacred Heart Church in Polonia, WI. Her entire life was spent in the service of others. She gave her all to helping others. Her motto was “God will Provide”. She was actively involved as the Religious Education instructor at St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton, and as past Religious Education instructor at All Saints Catholic Parish in Berlin. During the time of the merger of the 3 Catholic parishes in Berlin, Sister Jude was instrumental in helping the women’s group’s transition into one new group called Council of Catholic Women (CCW). She served several terms as Spirituality Commission chair and two terms as president of All Saints Council of Catholic Women. She was particularly proud of being the Columbia North Vicariate CCW which consists of all the Catholic parishes in the counties of Columbia, Marquette and Green Lake. As a Vicariate president she was also a member of the Madison Diocesan Council of Catholic Women board. She was also involved with the Berlin Blood Drives, the Berlin Food Pantry, Teens Encounter Christ (TEC), Funeral Circles, parish rummage sales, bake sales, mini-retreats and Soul Food, as well as a private math tutor. She also served on the All Saints Catholic Parish Education Commission and was very active in bringing people back to the Catholic faith. Sister Jude is survived by two brothers, William (Diane) Seaman of Valrico, Florida and Charles (Mary) Seaman of Berlin; brother-in-law Martin Barnard of Berlin. She is further survived by ten nieces and nephews and their families: Michelle (Ben) Seaman, Michael (Charlene) Seaman and their children Hannah and Blake; Matthew Seaman, Luke (Rizza) Seaman and their children Orion, Kaden and Althea; Kurt (Heidi) Barnard and Kurt’s children Julia (Nick) Adame and their children Malaki, Emiliano and Estela, Elyse, Chelsie and Pierce; Kim (Jim) Holliday and their children, Clarissa (Jeremy) Fenske and Brianna; Kevin (Sharon) Barnard and Kevin’s children, Nathan, Bryce, and Kathryn (Theo) Twet, Madeline and William; Keith (Laura) Barnard and their children, Graciela, Kayla and Martin; Karla (Jay) Wakeley and their children, AJ, Cheyne (Sierra) and their children Sadie and Hadley, Marcus and his child Ryder; Molly (Danny) Dahlke and their children Josh and Lily; Karen (Jim) Schmidt and their children Karen (Tim) Paugels, Connor and Claire; and Laura (Ryan) Lowe and their children Olivia and Miles. Special friends of Sister Jude were Sue Carriveau and her sons Rob (Janet), Jim (Julie) and their children, Addie, Oliver and Lincoln, Tom (Ashley) and their son Andrew; special cousins, Julie Boeck, Leone Seaman, Sara Witz and Barbara Eagen. Sister Jude is also survived by many aunts, relative and friends. Sister Jude was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Stella Seaman; a brother, Jerome; and two sisters, Beatrice Barnard and Sister Mary Ruth Seaman; and one nephew Joshua Wakeley. Funeral services with the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday July 7, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Parish of Berlin with Father David Greenfield, and Pastor officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family and pay their respects to Sister on Wednesday July 6, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Berlin Funeral Home with a Parish Rosary to be recited at 7:45 p.m. and may also call at the Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. before we leave for the services at the church. A memorial has been established. A private family internment will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery of Berlin. A memorial to Sister Mary Jude’s memory has been established.
