Kay Francis Hostettler

Kay F Hostettler 7/5/1937-6/25-2025 Kay Francis Hostettler left us on June 25, 2025. Kay was born on July 5, 1937 to the late George Hostettler and Bernadette Belonger. He married Shirley Diedrich on November 12th, 1960 who preceded him in death on April 14, 2025. Kay served his country with honor in the US Army as a communications NCO in Formosa. Upon his return, he worked many small jobs and full time at Tecumseh before he settled on a career as a semi driver. First as a franchisee owner/operator for Atlas Van Lines, then settled on local routes for Ryan Transfer in Green Bay, WI where he retired in 1992. Kay selflessly helped in his community of Stockbridge, WI where he spent most of his life taking care of friends and family through their roughest times. In 2008, Kay and Shirley moved to Poy Sippi, WI to be close to family. They lived out their life gardening, fishing, hunting, watching Nascar, and feeding the wildlife on their 40 acres. Kay was the oldest of 2 children and is survived by one sister, Lynn Kilgore of Licking, MO. He is preceded in death by his best friend and brother-in-law, Donald Diedrich along with a few other in-law family members and will continue to be remembered by other surviving in-law family throughout the country. He was a loving, fiercely protective father, that only wanted the best for and from his six children who all cared for him in his final months. David Hostettler, recently transplanted back to Wi, Sharon (Randy) Glatz living in Henderson, NV, Dawn (Joseph) Bolz living in Little Suamico, WI, Barbara (Ken) Howe living in Kalamazoo, MI, Mark (Jennifer) Hostettler living in Poy Sippi, WI, and Bonny (Randy) Sizelove living in Encinitas, CA. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many, many, nieces and nephews. We miss you, Dad. We understand that you had to leave, and how divine the timing is as you will be joining Mom. We know you will be together watching over us and you will be forever in our hearts. While the experience of the past several months, and especially the last days, has been difficult, we appreciate the grace, strength, and courage you showed throughout. Thank you for allowing us to care for you and putting trust in the daily guidance Mark provided you throughout your battle with cancer; your humor never ceased. There were so many moments at the end where you just kept giving and kept comforting us. We will forever cherish these memories. You taught us well, Dad. Thank you for the opportunities that you gave us, showing us how to be adventurous, and enjoy life! A private family celebration of life will be held later, the date yet to be determined by his children. A memorial has been established in his memory.
