Daniel Van Ornum

July 9, 1943 - April 16, 2018

"I AM HOME, “Mom has the table set" "Dear Lord, "Forgive them for what they Do or Failed to Do". Dan passed peacefully through the Gates of Heaven after a courageous battle with Peripheral Artery Disease on April 16, 2018. Dan was born July 9, 1943 the son of Morgan and Ellen Van Ornum. He attended the Berlin school system and graduated in 1961 as a Proud Berlin Indian. Dan served his country honorable in the US Army from 1961 to 1964. Dan was a hard working Honest State of Wisconsin Master Electrician by trade, a member of the IBEW. He worked for several electrical contractors in the Oshkosh and Omro area. Dan worked 20 years for the City of Oshkosh Electrical Division. Retiring from the city in 2008. Through the years Dan was as avid Packer and Badger sport fan. He enjoyed calling the plays and cussing when the players failed to make a catch or fumbled the ball. Dan was looking forward to summer days of baseball along with some fishing, canoeing, camping, and campfires with a "Miller" or two. Dan is survived by his wife and best friend of 32 loving years, Evon; daughters, Kimberly Van Ornum of Phoenix, AZ & Nikki Van Ornum of Oshkosh, WI. He is also survived by stepsons, Robert (Jeanette) Cauley & Terry (Geri) Cauley; stepdaughters, Peggy Cauley & Lisa (Brian) Rye; brother, Donald (Debbie) Van Ornum; sister, Vikki (Keith) Van Buren; sisters-in-law, Linda Dahlke, Carol (Milton) Otto; brother-in-law, David (Ellen) Nitz; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; grandchildren and great grandchildren which Dan thoroughly enjoyed being grandpa to; and his Huskies, Cooper, Shylo; Pom, Sir Rudy. Dan was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Kristin; parents, Morgan & Ellen Van Ornum; his first grandson, Morgan L.S. Van Ornum; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Nitz; brother-in-law, Butch Dahlke; numerous aunts, uncles and Van Ornum cousins. Per Dan's request, cremation has taken place. There will be NO visitation or funeral. A prayer service will be held at the time of inurnment, date pending.
