Cris Scott Kroeck

January 3, 1954 - January 9, 2021

Cris Scott Kroeck, age 66, of Berlin, passed away on January 9, 2021 at ThedaCare Appleton. He was born in Berlin on October 3, 1954, to Barbara and Elmer Kroeck. He joined his older sister, Debbie to be raised by their loving mother, Barb. He graduated from Berlin High school in 1972 and had one year of college at UW Stevens Point in the Wildlife Management program. Cris had a well-rounded knowledge of wildlife and the outdoors, developed mostly from his personal life experiences. His mother took her small family fishing often and early in life and so started his love of fishing. He hunted turkey, deer and waterfowl, with occasional success. Cris was proud of his success at marksmanship. And he should be, as he was one of the top shooters for several years at the Berlin Conservation Club’s event the Ironman shoot. And he was the ultimate best in 1996, when he won first place of all the contestants in the trap/skeet/sporting clay shooting competition. It became a tradition. Each September he would travel to go Sturgeon fishing with his sister Debbie and her husband Terry. He had a good instinct for reading a lake and seeing where the best spot was for the fish you were after that day. But his passion was Walleye fishing. He often called his sister with an update on the days fishing success or failures. As a lifelong resident of Berlin, he worked at the local foundry for 42 long years, most of his life. He is survived by his sister, Debra (Terry) Koehn; aunt and uncle, Ramona (Eugene) Neuman; aunt, Karen Piechowski; cousins, Kerry (Robert) Bray, Judy (Paul) Hochrein, Jan (John) Kossel, Jon Piechowski, Nichole (Joe) Lehr, Mark Neuman; and a great group of friends! Cris is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Shipton; aunt and uncle, Rita (Robert) Nowicki; uncle Edward Piechowski; and cousin, Todd Neuman. We will have food and drinks to toast to Cris on May 1, 2021, 2:00-5:00, at the Berlin Conservation Club. Please join us there. Thank you. A huge shout out to Theda Clark Hospital in Berlin and Appleton, the At Home Hospice, the Oncologists, Doctors, and nurses for their kind care of Cris. Nurses and nurse’s aides really are the heroes!!!
