Thelma Schmude

Thelma Clara Schmude, age 92 of Berlin, passed away peacefully on Friday November 24, 2017 at the Patriot Place of Berlin. Thelma was born on August 11, 1925 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Hirte) Schmidt. She married Norman Schmude on November 10, 1945 at the Grace Lutheran Church of Oshkosh and he preceded her in death on September 24, 2000, after enjoying 54 years of marriage together. Thelma attended Grace Lutheran Grade School of Oshkosh and a graduate of the Oshkosh High School. After her marriage she was a year round employee of the Miles Kimball Company of Oshkosh, from 1952 to 1960. Upon moving to Berlin in 1960 she was employed by the David White Co. (Realist) of Berlin from April of 1960 until May of 1988. Norman and Thelma enjoyed many family times also fishing, camping, bowling, and traveling. After Norman’s death she enjoyed many good times with her loving sisters and brother in law, Robert Steinhilber. Thelma is a faithful member of the Grace English Lutheran Church of Berlin Thelma is survived by her loving sisters, Adeline Steinhilber, Geraldine (Gerry) Miller, Alice Grunske , a sister in law, Margaret (Marge) Schmude, her special nieces, Jan and Deb and her very special friends and neighbors, Delbert and Barbara Krause, and also surviving are many other nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sisters, Verna Wesenberg, Mildred (Milly) Schmidt and Jeanette (Tudy) Lugoski, her brother, Carlton (Carol) Schmidt, her precious doggie, Susie Gale, and her, brother in law, Robert Steinhilber. A special thank you to her dear sister and friend, Adeline, who has been her rock her whole life through tears and laughter, also her sister, Geraldine (Gerry) Miller who was always there when she needed her and her sister, Alice Grunske, for all of her love, also her special nieces Jan and Deb, for all of their help. In replacement of flowers a memorial has been established in her memory to Grace English Lutheran Church of Berlin, The Green Lake Animal shelter and or the Berlin Food Pantry. In following with Thelma’s wishes a private family funeral service will be held at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of Berlin, with the Pastor Scott Piper officiating and burial will be beside her beloved husband Norman, at the Lakeview Memorial Park of Oshkosh.
