Robert Charles Chipman February 12, 1935 - January 12, 2021 Robert Charles “Chuck” Chipman, age 85, passed away peacefully at Patriot Place in Redgranite, WI, on the morning of January 12, 2021. Chuck was born in Milwaukee, WI, on February 12, 1935, to Pearl (Turner) and Robert Evans. Mr. Evans sadly passed away when Chuck was just a young child. He was adopted by Albion Chipman after Albion married Pearl. Chuck grew up in Milwaukee, but he spent some of his best childhood days on his grandparents’ farm in Spring Lake, WI. On June 7, 1958, Chuck married the love of his life, Mary Ann Fermanich. They enjoyed 62 years together and were a loving example of Christian marriage to their children. Chuck was a devout Catholic and a godly man, always giving of himself to make the lives of others better – teaching catechism, singing in the choir, leading chronic illness support groups, lending his culinary skills to church events or just brightening a day with a warm hello or hearty hug. Of his many loves, his family came first. The beaming smile he proudly wore when surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren was unmistakable, and it is forever etched in the memories of those who were privileged to be counted among his greatest blessings. As a chef, Chuck worked at several supper clubs and resorts in Wisconsin, including Hessers and the Pioneer Inn, and he spent more than 20 years as the head chef at Robbins in Oshkosh. In 1991, he fulfilled his dream of owning a restaurant. Chipman’s Supper Club in Princeton, WI, was a family affair for 9 years before he retired. Chuck also loved hunting and music. He enjoyed deer hunting and bird hunting, and for many years bred and trained Brittany Spaniels as faithful hunting companions. In his retirement he found time to pick up his guitar again and spent many afternoons playing for the residents of local nursing homes with his sister and brother-in-law. Chuck is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his children Robert (Mary) Chipman, Kathleen (James) Davenport, Evan Chipman, Lisa Chipman, Scott (Linda) Chipman, Amy (Gerald) Albrecht, Timothy (Rebecca) Chipman, Tracy (Charles) Berray and Jennifer (Gary) Dixon; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his sisters Victoria Seelow, Carol Herrmann, Eileen Korchunoff and Lori Trahan; sisters-in law Victoria Chipman, Beverly Chipman, and Carol Eickhoff; brothers-in-law James (Ila) Fermanich, David (Shirley) Fermanich and Michael (Jenny) Fermanich; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Albion and Pearl Chipman and Robert Evans, his infant daughter, Maria; his father- and mother-in-law, Urban and Harriet Fermanich; four brothers, Lesley Evans, Albion Paul Chipman, Jack Chipman, Donald Chipman; his sister, Karen Bouffiou; sister-in-law Marlene Worner and many other beloved family members. The family would like to extend thanks to the caregivers at Heartland Hospice and Patriot Place for the care they provided for Chuck in the past few years and especially his final days. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Redgranite, WI, on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Father Larry Seidl and Deacon Bob Precourt. Visitation will precede the mass in the church hall, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service at St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery of Redgranite. Family and friends are reminded of the CDC’s Covid-19 guidelines for funerals. Masks are required at the church. Please respect social distancing and sit with members of your household only. Also, in accordance with the guidelines, there will not be a luncheon following the service. “Until we meet again, May your fields be full of pheasants, Your dogs always on point, Your plates always be warm, Your kitchen always in order, And your scope always in zoom on 10 point bucks.”
