Michael Santori

Michael Patrick Santori, age 41, passed away peacefully in his home on August 25, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born on November 20th, 1982 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Margaret and Anthony F. Santori. He grew up in Steger, Illinois and graduated from Bloom Trail High School in 2001. Right after completing high school, Michael enlisted in the US Navy and served on active duty from 2001-2005. He served on the USS-Comstock LSD 45 based out of San Diego, California as an Engineman (EN). During his time with the Navy, Michael was deployed twice and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He married the love of his life, Stephanie Skowronski, on October 19th, 2002 and they enjoyed 22 wonderful years together. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Michael was employed at Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD) out of La Grange, Illinois for 12 years as a Journeyman Experimental Test Technician. Following his employment at EMD, Michael worked at Canadian National Railroad out of Homewood, Illinois for 2 ½ years as a Journeyman Machinist. After receiving a promotion to a supervisor position within CN, Michael and his family moved to Berlin, Wisconsin where he worked at the North Fond Du Lac CN shop for 4 years until his passing. Michael enjoyed being outside whether it was fishing, building things or working with his hands and enjoyed spending time with his family, all of whom will miss him very much. He also had a love for poodles and will be missed by his dog Patches. Michael is survived by his wife, Stephanie, his partner, Betsy Jaroch and their children, Saylor (Steve) Jischke, Michael P. Santori JR and Ella Santori. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Sharkey, his brothers Anthony F. (Trisha) Santori JR and Bryan Santori, his nephews Anthony F. Santori III and Christopher Santori. Michael is further survived by aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony F. Santori, his step-father Patrick Sharkey, and his mother-in-law Susan Oosterbaan. Per Michael’s wishes, he will be having a burial at sea off of a US Navy Ship on a date to be determined. We want to thank SMS Hospice for taking such good care of Michael during his cancer journey. He is going to be missed by all who knew him.
