Mrs. Lucia Guadalupe Dimas

Lucia Guadalupe (Escalante) Dimas went to be with our lord on her birthday at the age of 83. She was born on December. 5,th 1931, in Paso Del Aguila San Luis Pototsi, Mexico the daughter of Aurelio and Aurelia (Castillo) Escalante, and passed away on December 5th 2014 at her home in the comfort of her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Epifanio Dimas,her son, Epifanio Dimas Jr., her parents Aurellio and Aurellia (Castillo) Escalante, and a brother, Mundo Escalante and her granddaughter, Cathrine Gilles. Those who knew her, knew it was not uncommon for her to open her house and feed those that were lost and weary. In the 70's and 80's many kids in Berlin grew up knowing her as Ma Dimas. She was a long time devoted Catholic and resided in Berlin since 1965, where she raised 10 children that will miss her dearly. Children that mourn her loss include, Jaime(Colleen), Javier (Debbie), Evangelina, Joel (Anne), Anna Maria, Jose Luis, Antonio (Michelle), Michael and Olivia. Grand children include, Jason, Jamie, Joel, Crystal, Jennifer, Laura, Dannielle, (Johnny), Nicole, Alejandro, Antonio Jr., Vangie, Nicole, Mickey, David, Jessica, Kaitlin, Noah and Ryan and seven, great grandchildren. Lucia is a devoted member of the All Saints Catholic Parish of Berlin and the Ladies Sodality of the Parish. In her younger years she worked as a farm laborer for several area farms, canning companies and pickle companies as well as being a most wonderful mother to her family. She will also be missed by her brothers and sisters, Crucita, Socorro and Luis Alvarado, Raul and Frances Escalante, Bullmaro Escalante and numerous nieces and nephews. The Dimas family would like to thank her close friends, Julia Tovar and Bertha Jaimez, Dirk and Deana Verheyen, and Sharon Stumpner. We would to thank The Affinity Hospice Team, Sheila, Kelli, Rachel and Penny, for their care and support of our dearest mother. A memorial has been established in her memory to her former Parish church in Mexico, El Sen6r Del Amparo. Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church of Berlin with the Father David Greenfield officiating and burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery of Berlin. Immediately following the burial all are invited back to the All Saints Parish Hall for a Spanish meal in Lucia’s memory. Relatives and friend may visit with the family and pay their respects to Lucia on Thursday December 11, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of downtown Berlin with a Parish Rosary to be recited at 7:45 p.m., and may also visit at the Funeral Home on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. before we leave for the Mass at church.
