Karen Markofski

Karen Markofski, age 84, of Berlin, died August 30th, 2026, at Serenity Villa, Oshkosh. Karen was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on December 10, 1941, to Harry and Adeline Rush. After graduating from Washington High School in 1959, she met Robert Markofski, who became the love of her life. They were married in Milwaukee in November 1961 and later settled in Bob’s hometown of Berlin, Wisconsin, where they built a life and raised four children: Christopher, Gloria, Diane, and Andrew. A devoted mother and homemaker, Karen poured her heart into supporting her children and taking an active role in their lives. She delighted in life’s simple pleasures, especially sewing, cooking wonderful meals for her family, and dancing Saturday nights away with her husband. Treasured recipes like her apple pie will continue to be passed down through generations. She was a life-long member of the Berlin Catholic community, both at St. Stanislaus Parish and the present All Saints Parish. Karen enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. Karen is survived by two sons, Christopher (Patty) Markofski of Spokane, WA, and Andrew (Lynette) Markofski of Cedar Rapids, IA; two daughters, Gloria Markofski of Oshkosh, WI, and Diane (Kevin) Brose of Marietta, GA; seven grandchildren, Tyler (Secelie) Panske, Jacob Panske, Samuel and Ryan (Cheyanne) Markofski, Alex (Taylor) Brose, Zachary Brose, and Megan (John) Chiles; five great-grandchildren, Wynn, Rohen and Renley Panske, and Blakely and Hallie Brose; special “adopted” Granddaughter Kristi Bares, and her 3 children, Grace, Grant and Gavin; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bob, her parents, Harry and Adeline Rush, two brothers, James and Allen Rush, and one sister, Elaine Zweck. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff from Serenity Villa and PreCeptor Hospice. Family and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday September 15, 2026, from 10-12:00 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. with Monsignor James Gunn officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at St. Stanislaus Cemetery,
