Jean Marie Hoffmann

Jean Marie Hoffmann, 82, peacefully entered the gates of heaven on July 31, 2026, leaving behind a family who will forever be grateful for her strength, resilience, and the countless memories and traditions she created throughout her life. Jean was born on March 20, 1944, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Gerald and Elizabeth Osworth. She had a love for learning and graduated as the salutatorian from New Holstein High School in 1962 before marrying Don Hoffmann in 1963. Together, they built a life that eventually led them to Berlin, Wisconsin, where they raised their three daughters and Jean called home for the rest of her life. Jean spent much of her career in clerical work, including many years at the Berlin Foundry, where she formed many friendships. Before retiring, she also enjoyed working at a local radio station. If you knew Jean, you knew that she was thoughtful and generous in the ways she cared for others, had a good sense of humor, and carried a determination that was uniquely her own. She was strong-willed, independent, and never one to back away from life's challenges. Over the past 11 years, she faced four different cancer diagnoses with remarkable courage, strength, and resilience. She met every challenge head-on, proving time and again that she was a fighter. Jean found joy in the simple things—a good book, a day on the golf course, spending time with her family, and, of course, cheering on Wisconsin sports. A lifelong Brewers fan, she rarely missed a game and always knew the latest score. Packers Sundays meant family football pools, friendly competition, and another reason to bring everyone together. She also cherished time spent with her girlfriends, sharing a glass of wine and good conversation, and looked forward to her daily 5:00 p.m. phone calls that became a special part of her routine. Jean also adored her dog, Georgie, whose company brought her comfort and joy. More than anything else, Jean cherished her family. Just days before her passing, she was asked what she considered her greatest accomplishment in life. Without hesitation, her answer was simple: her three daughters, followed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy. She loved watching them grow, celebrating each milestone, and proudly embracing the role of Great-Grandma. Jean showed her love through staying connected, paying attention to the details of her family's lives, remembering the things that mattered, celebrating new milestones, and always taking an interest in the people she loved. Faith was an important part of Jean's life. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin and especially treasured the visits she shared with Pastor Rob. Jean is lovingly survived by her daughters, Paula (Peter) Trochinski, Sandy (Rick) Trampf, and Sara (Jesse) Houle; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Joseph Trochinski and his children, Ava, Rylee, Reed, and Easton; Sara (Jeremy) Mercer and their children, Jace, Alex, and Beau; Laura (Logan) Block and their daughter, Maya; Emily (Mat) Gollnick and their children, Rhett and baby girl; Taylor (Rheannon) Trampf and their children, Luca and Beckett; Alyssa (Kyle) Neumann; Sam Jacobs; Spencer Jacobs; Sydney Houle and Cassidy Sepnieski. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Irwin; her sisters-in-law, Bets (Jeff) McKnight and Jeanne Miracle; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Elizabeth Osworth; her former spouse, Don Hoffmann; her brother-in-law, Ken Irwin; and her beloved grandson, Alex Trochinski. Per Jean's wishes, a private family service will be held. Jean's life wasn't defined by the challenges she faced, but by the strength and resilience with which she faced them, the family she cherished, and the memories she leaves behind. Her legacy lives on through her family she loved so deeply and the memories they will carry with them forever. She is already deeply missed and forever remembered.
