Herbert A. Dehn

Herbert A. Dehn, age 71, of Berlin passed away at ThedaCare Berlin on Monday, December 17, 2018 but he was not alone, he was surrounded with the love of his family. He was born on June 27, 1947 in Berlin, the son of Edward and Josephine (Krause) Dehn. Herb was a 1965 Berlin High school graduate and was employed over the years by Speed Queen as a machinist, Senior Engineering as a pattern maker and Wisconsin Department of Corrections as a guard. On June 27, 1970 he was united in marriage to Sharon Minsky at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin. He and his wife shared 48 years of marriage together. Like any marriage it was full of its ups and downs, but together they made it work in their own unique way. They spent much of their time together going for rides and staying at their land. Herb enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his family, trapshooting, spending time at his land and making people laugh. His eyes would sparkle with pride when spending time with his grandchildren. Whether it was watching them drive his four-wheeler, teaching them how to drive his tractor, playing corn bag toss, watching them swim or catch fish in his pond or sitting around a campfire. He enjoyed spoiling them with treats or teaching them a new joke. He especially admired Allison’s artistic abilities which she inherited from him. He loved it when Megan would share his passion for watching the Badgers play and when Ulugbek would go watch the Packers game with him. He also liked watching Lane and Landen play high school football and taking Wyatt and Hannah hunting. His sense of humor could make anyone laugh, and his stories and all the memories will live on. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but until we meet again, it is not a good bye, but a see you later. He was a member of the Berlin Conservation Club and St. John Lutheran Church of Berlin. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Dehn; daughters, Brenda (Ed) Marks, Debra (Jason) Kienast; brothers, Richard (Romaine) Dehn, Howard (Cathy) Dehn; sister, Darlene (Darrel) Nitz; grandchildren, Allison Marks, Megan Marks, Lada, Sophia, Ulugbek, Cezara, Nizar, Abigail Kienast; brother in law, Donald Minsky; special nephew, Jacob Nelson; special friends, Rich and Jodi Markowski, Hannah and Wyatt; and other relatives and many friends. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Josephine Dehn; sister, Harriett Fredrick; brother in law, Lloyd Fredrick; brother in law, Steve Minsky; sister in law, Marge Minsky; and niece, Janice Nelson. Family and friends may visit and pay their respects to the family on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 9-11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Berlin. Funeral Services will be held following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Mundinger Officiating. A luncheon and a time for fellowship will follow in the Parish Hall. Inurnment will be held in spring. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at ThedaCare Berlin and Hospice; Lisa Moriarty, our angel; and Pastor Mundinger for taking care of Herb and comforting his family during this difficult time.
