Ethel Steuck

Ethel Steuck, 99, Town of Dakota, rural Wautoma, died on October 20, 2022, at her home with family by her side. Ethel was born Aug. 12, 1923, in the Town of Leon, Wisconsin, a daughter of Jesse and Florence (Covill) McBrair. She graduated from machinist school in Beloit and worked from Chapman’s in Berlin from 1943 to 1944. She was married to Leonard A. Schroeder on April 21, 1941, at Fairburn Church in Redgranite. They were farmers until she went to work at Realist in Berlin where she worked for 26 years until her retirement. Leonard died on Jan. 7, 1979. Ethel was married to Clayton M. Steuck of Wautoma on June 7, 1980, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Redgranite. She farmed with Clayton while continuing to work at Realist until her retirement. After retiring, she and Clayton spent numerous years traveling and sight-seeing with the Wisconsin Paper Valley Break Aways. They spent winters in Florida, Texas, and Arizona. She and Clayton also enjoyed spending time with their family, including numerous step-grandchildren who adored her. Clayton died on Sept. 24, 2017. Survivors include her godchildren, Judy Rickert, Karen Thoma, and Robert McBrair; four stepchildren, Deborah Dehling of Plover, Douglas (Denise) Steuck of Wautoma, Duane Steuck of Wautoma, and Donald (Laura) Steuck of Wautoma; seven step-grandchildren, Scott (Virginia) Steuck of Stevens Point, Kelly (Brian) Stellmacher of Ripon, Cassandra (Paul) Brown of Wautoma, Jayson (Briana) Steuck of Wautoma, Christopher Dehling of Coloma, Kristina Dehling of Coloma, and Britney Steuck of Wautoma; many step-greatgrandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by a special nephew she helped raise, Steve McBrair; her parents; one stepson, Dennis Steuck; one sister, Leona; and five brothers, Charles, George, Neil, Richard, and David. Family and friends may visit with the family and pay their respects to Ethel on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 9 -11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Redgranite. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gregory Sluke officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery of Berlin.
