Dorothy Genereaux

Dorothy Genereaux, age 91, of Berlin, WI, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton. Dorothy was born in Berlin, WI, on March 28, 1934, daughter of Andrew and Martha (Matuscheveski) Sobralski. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1952. Dorothy married James Stobbe on April 15, 1953 and together they had 4 children David, Kurt, Kathy and Robert. James preceded Dorothy in death. After 21 years of marriage. Dorothy returned to school and obtained her nursing degree and started her nursing career working at Juliette Manor in Berlin. She then met and married Francis (Bud) Genereaux on May 19, 1979. Dorothy and Bud purchased and ran Town & County and Steel’s Restaurants for 5 years. After that Dorothy returned to her nursing career and continued that into her 80’s. Dorothy enjoyed her time traveling with Bud to Texas and Alabama in the winter, and Eagle River in the summer. Dorothy loved fishing with Bud, watching the Packers, going to lunch with her friends, cooking meals that her family will dearly miss and of course occasionally visiting casinos. Her family will miss the cherished tradition of reading the “Night Before Christmas” with Grandma Dorothy. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Francis (Bud); her three children, David (Julie) Stobbe, Kurt (Annette) Stobbe, Kathy (Tim Sr.), Krentz; daughter-in-law, Cindy Stobbe; stepson ,Michael (Denise) Genereaux. She is further survived by grandchildren, Rebecca (Chris) Tappen, Kimberly (Rick) Gehrke, Mathew (Nicole) Stobbe, Jamie (Craig) Hable, Amanda Osterberg (special friend Adam O’Kon), Nick (Chelsie) Osterberg, Tim Jr. (Chelsea) Krentz, Austin Krentz; step-grandchildren, Bryan (Kourtney), Jeffrey (KariAnn) and Lindsey Genereaux; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Marion Sonnentag; brother, Richard (Julie) Sobralski; many nieces; nephews; and other relatives and many friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Martha Sobralski; first husband, James Stobbe; son, Robert Stobbe; granddaughter, Rachel Tappen; sisters, Margaret Beck, Delores Piepiorka; brother, Andrew Sobralski Jr. and several other in-laws. A special thank you to the doctor, nurses and staff on the 7 th floor of ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton.
