Doris Jezwinski

In loving memory of Doris Klein-Jezwinski (Jan.31,1937-Sept.22, 2025). Beloved mother of Dale Edward, Dean Richard, David “Tiger” James, Douglas “Duke” Michael, Dawn Marie, Dee Marie, Dan Joel, and Dacy Marie. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of the soul of our family. Doris left us peacefully, being held by her husband of 68 years, on the farm that she loved, enjoying the early colors of fall. The daughter of Merrill and Mary Klein of Berlin, Doris grew up with her three brothers, Don, Tom and Jim, sharing their love of sports, swimming and mischief. Her special joy was her baby sister Pam, whom she cherished, spoiled and adored. It didn’t take her long to shine on her own. She became a Girl Scout Curved Bar winner, a lifeguard, and multiple GAA letter winner. She learned to sew her own clothes, and started her lifelong pleasures of knitting, crocheting, and painting. High School was, according to Doris, “Some of the Greatest Years.” Four years in the band, Drum Majorette, Prom Queen and Homecoming Miss Berlin, everyone knew her smile! She was a founding member of the Ski club and forever a Cheer Leader. If the band was playing a Charleston or Jitterbug, she was in the middle of the dance floor, and her love for music and dancing never left her. Doris had a passion for skiing and became a true enthusiast. She never finished a beer or smoked a cigarette; her true vice was fresh powder. If there was 6 inches of new snow on a Colorado mountain, she was unstoppable! She skied throughout Europe and all over the U.S., but Colorado became her second home, where she was on the mountain every opening day well into her 80’s. Sharing her love of skiing with her grandchildren and great–grandchildren, making sure everyone experienced ski school and time with her on the slopes, was a mission and life goal. Our family will always cherish those special and happy memories. Road trips with Doris were never short; they were adventures. There was predictably an Antique Store, attraction, or Historical Marker “not too far off the road” and the detour was always taken! She was alive with a deep desire to experience everything that she could in life. All the while, singing a Neil Diamond song! A true participant, she was ready for any challenge, especially if it sounded fun. Skydiving? You bet! Buffalo hunting? Why not! Run a Daycare? No problem. Running daycares and working at several others, she introduced “Grandma Pockets” to the hundreds of kids that she adored. She lived her life as lively as she could, and her life became a collection of wonderful stories that were such a joy to us all. When it came to her faith, Doris wore it on her sleeve. She was very proud to be an Elder and Board member of MMI Ministries. Daily, she spent time with her bible and wasn't afraid to pray out loud. If she held your hand and prayed with you, or for you, you knew Jesus was in the room. But if we asked her, she would absolutely say, her greatest joy, accomplishment and treasure, was her family. She adored her husband, Dave, her high school sweetheart, still holding his hand on her last day with us. While she had eight kids of her own, she was mother to many more. She cast a wide net with her love, and if she pulled you in, it was for life! She left this world with 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, but many more call her grandma and all were loved as her own. As grandma and great-grandma, she loved going to support her family by cheering on countless basketball, football and volleyball games; she was even the very first member of the Berlin Booster Club at its inception in 1976. She enjoyed babysitting the puppies, celebrating all the birthdays and especially getting everyone together for Christmas. Doris loved (winning at) cards and was a famously ruthless Monopoly player! She even bought the extra money so the games would last longer, she so enjoyed that special time around the table. While she can’t be replaced, all who knew her will remember her with a smile. The light she brought into this world was bright and still shines through all those that she loved. She was ready for heaven. She wanted to hold her son Dean and her grandson Jake who, along with many others, were waiting for her. God bless you Doris. Wife, mother, sister, kick-a** fun grandma. Your love for us warms our hearts and we will cherish your memory until we meet again. Family and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of Berlin. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. at Mastricola’s on Broadway in Berlin.
