Donna Marie Sobieski

On Thursday morning September 28th, our beautiful wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, Godmother, sister, aunt, and friend made the journey home and was welcomed into Heaven by our glorious Lord. Donna Marie (Drover) Sobieski, age 77, of Berlin WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh, WI. She was greeted at Heaven’s gate by adoring family members that passed before her. Donna was born February 12, 1946 in Berlin, WI to Louis and Helen (Sedarski) Drover. She was a 1964 graduate of Berlin High School. Donna worked in retail, and as a head cook at Juliet Manor Nursing Home. Family was Donna’s entire world and she found so much joy in newborn babies. The joy of her life was little ones, that when her children had babies she quit her job to stay at home and raise her 14 grandchildren. Because of the love Donna instilled in everyone she touched, all of these cousins grew up more like siblings, because of the closeness and love she instilled in all of them. She taught all her kids and grandchildren, “that if you have love, you have everything.” Grandma always made sure there was fresh baked goodies on the counter, a warm meal, and a place at the table for all. No one ever left Grandma and Grandpa’s house hungry. She loved her home and made sure it was beautifully decorated for her family to enjoy especially at Christmas, which was her favorite holiday. Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa’s was a favorite holiday tradition for all to enjoy. Love radiated throughout their house. Donna was united in marriage to Dick Sobieski on October 1, 1966 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Berlin, WI. Together they raised five children on the family farm, west of Berlin. Donna enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping with her granddaughters, attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events and dance recitals, breakfast visits with her brothers, playing cards, tending to her flowers, and watching any western movie. But, most of all she loved spending time with her beautiful family. She was a woman of great faith and passed this along to her entire family. Faith, Family, and Friends is what Donna lived her life by and instilled in all family members. Donna is survived by her loving husband Dick Sobieski; loving children Diane (Steve) Klika, MaryBeth (Scott) Yonke, Amy (Tyler) Thoma, Dick (Krista) Sobieski, and Sara Sobieski (Tom Disterhaft) all of Berlin. 14 adored grandchildren; Stephanie (Mitchell) Krause, Stacie (fiance Ethan Hoffman) Klika, Steven Klika, Ryan (Kayla) Yonke, Allison (Cole) Gohlke, Mitchell Yonke, Lane, Landen, Layten, and Lakelyn Sobieski, Richard (Bridget), Bradley, Kara, and Karissa Block. Five Brothers; Ronnie (Sharon Marchenkuski), David (Peggy), Bob (Lori), Joe, and Donald (Mary) Drover. Brothers/Sisters-in-law; Diane Sobieski, Marilyn Aggson, Tom (Theresa) Sobieski, Carol (Robert) Miller-Bantom, John (Cheryl) Sobieski, Susan (Bob) Tracy, and Jean Sobieski. Five adored great-grandchildren, and one due in January; Easton Krause, Baby Krause, Alyse and Alayna Yonke, Paisley and Landry Rose Gohkle. Special Godchild; Kelly Drover, and numerous special nieces, nephews, Godchildren, cousins, and friends. Donna will be dearly missed by her family and everyone she touched with her positive, loving presence. She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws Thomas and Dorothy Sobieski, beloved brothers; Billy and Pat Drover, sisters-in-law; Norelle and Patsy Drover, Diane Sobieski, brothers-in-law; Robert Sobieski, Steve Sobieski, Robert Miller, and Bob Aggson. Godchild; Karen Drover. The family would like to thank Donna’s nephew, Father Michael Malucha, for coming to the house as well as the hospital to pray with Donna and her family. Your presence was deeply appreciated, and Aunt Donna was honored to have you help guide her to Heaven. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Peter Johnson who in 2019 diagnosed and treated Donna. You gave so much great care to Donna and gave us years of extended life with our wife, mom, and grandmother. Even though the years went extremely fast we are forever grateful for your expertise, compassion, and continued friendship. Thank you to the entire staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center for helping her through this journey and providing her kindness and hope. To the Aurora Medical Center nurses, she appreciated all of you for your great care and compassion you provided. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Budde, ThedaCare - Berlin. May our mom’s beautiful soul rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon her. Much love until we meet again beautiful, courageous, Mother.
