David Rozek

David L. Rozek, age 73, of Berlin, passed away peacefully at Patriot Place on Friday, July 12, 2024 with his family by his side. Dave was born on November 3, 1950, in Berlin, to Lawrence J. and Alice G. (Nowak) Rozek. He was raised on the family farm in Montello and graduated from Montello High School. He worked for Alliance Laundry Systems (formerly Speed Queen) for 44 years, retiring in 2013. On February 7, 1970, he was united in marriage to Gloria J. Born at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello, WI. Gloria preceded him in death on July 10, 2019. On May 27, 2021, he was united in marriage to Delores “Dee” Balsiger (nee Borrmann) in Harrisville, WI. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2021. Dave enjoyed doing many activities in his spare time: working at his family’s farm, hunting, fishing trips (from the chartered ones on Lake Michigan to the recent ones on Petenwell), playing cards, watching all types of sports, trivia (especially sports and history), golf (especially with his golfing buddies – his most memorable being his trips to Arizona which he talked about often), bowling, gardening, spending time with his cats, drinks with family and friends, playing board games and listening and singing to his old country music. Through the years, Dave was a member of many organizations: Knights of Columbus, Whitetails Unlimited, Bugle Mouth Bass, United States Bowling Congress, This Man Is You and FFA. Dave was a simple and humble man which brought him many, many lasting friendships. He cherished his time spent with his golfing group, bowling buddies, Wednesday card and dice playing pals at Misty’s, neighbors and friends from the Marquette County area and his neighbors in town. He also loved spending as much time as he could with his family playing games, giving everyone nicknames, talking of the past and teasing everyone to hear their laughter. Dave is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Dennis) Weeks; son, Joseph (Amber) Rozek; four grandchildren, Justin Knappenberger, Alyssa (Jerry) Vang, Andrew Rozek and Ariana Rozek, two great-grandchildren, Macy Vang and Vylet Vang. He is further survived by one brother, Daniel (Carrie) Rozek, sisters-in-law, Fran Born and Marcia Born, close cousin, Marlin Nowak, several nieces, nephews and relatives, and many friends. Dave was preceded in death by his wives, Gloria and Dee; daughter, Wendy; parents, Lawrence and Alice Rozek; father and mother-in-law, John and Bernice (Nolte) Born; brother, Mark Rozek; nephew, Bryce Rozek; sisters-in-law, Karen (Luebke) Born and Emma (Hammond) Dillman, brothers-in-law, Les Hammond, Robert Born and Fred “Fritz” Born. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Prayer Service at 6:45 PM at Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home, 116 S. Adams Ave., Berlin, WI. Visitation will continue Monday, July 22, 2024 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM also at the Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Parish, N8566 State Road 49, Berlin, WI with Father Eric Nielsen officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon to follow at All Saints Catholic Parish Hall.
