Mr. Chud Leigh Edward Werch

Chud Leigh (Chud) Edward Werch, age 82, of the Town of Rushford, Omro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning March 25th, 2015 at the Fountainview Care Center of Ripon. He was born July 19th, 1932 to Edward and Phyllis (Miskey) Werch in Berlin, WI. Chud Leigh enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and fought in the Korean War. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant and earned many medals and awards for his action and conflict he witnessed in this war. Upon his return to the states, Chud met the love of his life, Doris Marie Meingasner in Chicago, IL and they were married on February 14th, 1952 at Saint Francis De Sales Catholic Church of Chicago. Chud and Doris recently celebrated 62 wonderful and loving years of marriage. Chud Leigh is survived by his wife, Doris, his four sons, Chudley (Lauren), David, Michael and Scott, also his twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. He was employed as an Inspector for the Rockwell International Corp. of Oshkosh for 30 years, Chud retired in 1992 and continued to enjoy his real passion for nature and the outdoors including, hunting, fishing, lawn care and especially gardening. He was always proud to boast his garden being the first to be planted in the greater Eureka area and we enjoyed the plentiful produce he was happy to share with all. Dad was a warrior in life as demonstrated in Korea but also with his courageous battle with his multiple health issues towards the end. The entire family wishes to extend a special thank you to Affinity Visiting Nurses and Hospice Care and especially Ryan G. who demonstrated great patience, grace and care for Dad towards the end of his long and good life. Chud unconditionally loved and provided for his family and will be loved and missed by all of us. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday April 1, 2015 from 11a.m. to 1p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of downtown Berlin followed by a Funeral Service at 1p.m. at the Funeral Home with the Sister Pam Biehl officiating. Burial with full military honors presented by the Berlin VFW Post 2925 will follow in the Eureka Cemetery in the Town of Rushford, Winnebago County.
