Mrs. Marion Helen Getchius

Marion Helen (Miller) Getchius, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2016, at Preston Place in Redgranite, WI. Marion was born on October 3, 1926, in Green Lake County to parents Sigmund and Eunice (Covill) Miller and attended French School in the rural Redgranite/Berlin area. She married Thomas Stephen Getchius on May 9, 1951, in St. Augustine, FL. Marion worked at AirGuide in Chicago producing instruments for the war effort. She also lived in Wild Rose for several years, 30 years in Seymour, WI, and the last 30 years at Pearl Lake/Redgranite, WI. Marion was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, baking and spending time with her family. When her children were young, she was a Cub Scout den mother and Brownie leader. Marion was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church of Redgranite, WI. Survivors include sons: Michael (Cyndi) Getchius of Redgranite, WI, Patrick (Cynthia) Getchius of Wautoma, WI, Timothy Getchius of Kailua-Kona, HI, Douglas (Lori) Getchius of Oneida, WI; daughter Diane (Noland) Palacol of Kailua-Kona, HI; daughter-in-law Patricia Getchius of Daytona Beach, FL; twelve grandchildren: Thomas (Jackie) Getchius of Eden Prairie, MN, Brian (Ashley) Getchius of Redgranite, WI, Aaron (Emily) Getchius of Kaukauna, WI, Sarah Getchius of Hallandale Beach, FL, Savannah (Patrick) Bolduc of Portland, ME, Samantha (Chad) Rhodes of Orlando, FL, Angela Campbell of Neenah, WI, Brianne Getchius (Kristina Kishbaugh) of Appleton, WI, Marc Getchius of Oneida, WI, Stephanie Palacol (fiancé Brett Nenaber) of Charlotte, NC, Nicolette Palacol and Justin Palacol of Kailua-Kona, HI; and eight great-grandchildren: Destiny, Eternity, Gavin, Kyler, Eleanor, Scarlett, Mitchell, Harrison and step-great-grandchild Myles. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Tom (September 23, 1967), her parents, a son James, an infant daughter Catherine, 2 brothers and a sister. A celebration of Marion’s life will be held June 9-10, 2016. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of downtown Berlin. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, June 10, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Redgranite, WI. Interment will be held at St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery.
