Margaret Ceman

Margaret Ceman was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on November 6, 1924 and was raised in the township of Mecan in Marquette County by her adoptive parents Titus and Matie (Kelm) Jepson. She was married to Karl Knaack at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Princeton, WI on May 28, 1944 and they lived on a farm in the township of Shields. She later married Richard Ceman on May 30, 1972. Margaret worked at Handcraft, Lambskin, and Sandknit and also enjoyed restaurant work at Ron’s Diner, Town and Country, Heidel House and the Sheraton Inn in Milwaukee. She also worked as a food supervisor at UW Extension of Milwaukee and as a chef at the Green Bay Reformatory. At 70 years old she achieved her dream of getting her HSED. After retiring, she moved to Berlin and worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier working part time until the eve of her 80th birthday. Spending time with her family was very important to her. She enjoyed helping her friends or anyone who needed help. Margaret was very active and involved in volunteering, dancing, card playing, bingo, casinos, fishing and taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed traveling whenever she got the opportunity and always looked forward to her spring trip south. Throughout her life she belonged to Homemakers clubs and sang in church choirs. Her belief in the Lord was very strong and she knew everything would be alright. She was a member of St. John Lutheran church in Berlin and also a past member of the Alter Guild. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Linda Zimmerman, Kathryn (Vernon) Krause, Karen Hesprich (Tim Stamm); son, Kenneth (Tracy) Knaack; daughter-in-law, Mary Knaack; sons-in-law, Jerome DeBruin, Tom Trochinski; brother-in-law, James Ceman; sister-in-law, Margaret Ceman; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, special friends Michaeleen Frahn, Caroline Stibb and Linda and Duane Nitz; and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Titus and Matie Jepson; husband, Richard Ceman; sons, Karl Knaack, Kurtis Knaack; daughters, Nancy DeBruin, Gail Trochinski; brother, John Jepson; granddaughter, Terri Lynn Dibelius; mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Lillian (Nighbor) Ceman; brothers-in-law, Leonard, Jack and Harold Ceman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Marion Ceman, Wilbert and Sadie Knaack; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Mabert Groskruetz; stepson, Jack Ceman; and sister-in-law, Shirley Ceman. A funeral service will be held on Friday March 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Berlin with Pastor Paul Mundinger officiating. A luncheon and a time for sharing will be held following the service in the Church lower level. Inurnment will be held at a later time at Wood National Cemetery of Milwaukee. Family and friends may visit with the family and pay their respects to Margaret prior to the funeral service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Family and friends are reminded of the CDC’s Covid-19 guidelines for funerals. Masks are required for both the church, please respect social distancing, and please sit with family members only.
