Leone Thull

Leone Thull, 91, of Berlin, WI, passed away on July 20, 2023, at Juliette Manor. She had lived her whole life in Berlin, WI. She was born on January 25, 1932 in Berlin, WI, the daughter of Frank and Esther (Pigorsch) Etrick. She married Nicholas (Nick) A Thull on August 19, 1950 at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church of Berlin, WI. Leone worked in grocery stores most of her life, starting at a very young age of 14 for Kroger in Berlin, WI. Leone was a stay-at-home mom of 7 until most of them were school age. She returned to work as a grocery store clerk for Jorgesen’s meat market, which became Don and Joe’s, and later Greening’s United Foods. Leone continued to work for them at all 3 store locations until well into her 70’s. Leone was an active member of Berlin, WI’s All Saints Catholic Church (formally St Michael’s) throughout her life, singing in the choir, serving and cooking for countless events. She was an active member of the Berlin Senior Center, having been in the Senior Singers for years. She enjoyed many trips around the state, performing in the “Sister Act”, which toured the state for years and had a memorable trip of a lifetime to see the Pope in Rome. In her spare time, Leone loved playing bingo, cards with family and friends, solitaire for hours on her computer, hosting Bunco nights at her home and she loved to grocery shop. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nick, of 52 years; her parents, 3 sisters, Alice (George) Davis, Virginia (Harold) DeHart, Phyllis (Dennis) Schroeder; 2 brothers, Eugene and Martin Neil; daughter, Dawn (Bruce) Discher; and great-granddaughter, Grace. Survivors include 4 daughters, Mary Jo (Gene) Trochinski of Winter Park, FL, Connie Lehmann of Oshkosh, WI, Terri Anderson of Winter Park, FL and Carol Thull of Bradenton, FL; two sons, Nick M Thull of Sarasota FL and Gary Thull of Berlin, WI; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many dear friends. Family and friends may visit with the family and pay their respects to Leone on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 9-11:00 a.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of Berlin. Visitation will be followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Parish of Berlin with Father Anthony Thirumalareddy officiating. Burial will follow church services at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Leone’s legacy of faith and loving kindness will persist in the lives of those who knew her. Until we are reunited in Heaven, we will miss her so much. A memorial has been established in Leone’s memory.
