John E. O'Connell

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Edward O'Connell, a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, who departed this world on August 30th, 2023, at the age of 55. Born on September 28th, 1967 in New York, John was later embraced by the loving care of Jonathan (Larry) and Yvonne O'Connell growing up in Mazomanie, WI. His early years were filled with the joy of riding motorbikes and nurturing his profound love for the piano, along with Growing up partly in Germany, John was an avid skier cutting the slopes in alps with no fear. As he entered adulthood, John spent most of his life in the heart of Central Wisconsin, It was during this time that he met and married Rhonda Oelke. Together, they were blessed with two wonderful sons, Alex and Joshua, who not only kept him young but also gave him the priceless gifts of love and purpose. For 29 dedicated years, John worked at OEC Graphics as a CMACK Tech, where he cherished his work and colleagues. John shared many stories to the family of his boss Jack, who he admired for all his accomplishments and dedication to his generational company. John will be fondly remembered for his subtle humor, quick-witted quips, deep love for his family, and an unwavering passion for the Beatles. Among his favorite pastimes were his active involvement in politics, his culinary adventures, and his travels with family. But perhaps, on the best of days, you would find him lost in the melodies of his beloved piano, sharing the gift of music with those fortunate enough to listen. John is survived by his sons, Alex O’Connell (Paige) Omro WI and Joshua O’Connell Omro WI; grandson, Barrett; wife, Linda; stepdaughter, Mallory Oshkosh WI; mother-in-law, Carole Patten Oshkosh; brothers-in-law Scott, (Sue) Wilton WI, Greg (Kris) Sobieski, Chris Oshkosh; sister-in-law, Stacey (Bob) Bougie, Oshkosh; along with his cherished brothers and sisters, Mick O’Connell (Deb Rathermel) Madison WI, Jack O’Connell DeForest WI, Audry Langeberg (Doug Langeberg) Omro WI, Anthony O’Connell (Krissi Girling) Madison WI, Kristina Farist Bath, OH. Visitation will be held on Friday October 6th, 2023 from 11:00-1:45 pm with a memorial service following at 1:45 pm at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home, 116 S Adams Ave., Berlin WI 54923. Following the services. Burial will take place at Lake View Memorial Park 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh WI. No luncheon will be served. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all whose lives he touched. John, your memory will forever be engraved in our hearts, and your love will continue to inspire us.
